My First DIY ...
Okay, okay, it was a bit of a candy *** task ... but it felt good to do it myself. Replaced a dead battery! Battery minder died over the winter with the car locked and hood locked. Of course I squeezed the car into the corner of the garage for the winter, so there wasn't much room to get the emergency power post for the trunk release. Anyway, got the circuit energized, disabled the alarm, popped the hood and replaced the battery. (the new one is an Interstate in case in anyone is curious)
Might try an oil change myself next!

Congratulations, your one up on me. During the winter, if not driving for extended periods, I go out to the garage weekly and use the remote to unlock/lock the car and see if the battery maintainer light goes on. If the light goes on I feel relatively secure that the car is still on trickle charge.
Good luck with the oil change!
Lots of good information here and on the link below in my signature.

Just to clarify, DIY battery change is +10 points each. PDDI (pay dealer to do it) is an automatic -10 points and paying over $200 for that service gets a BONUS -40 points for stupidity. The -50 points multiplied by the "gender adjustment factor" for not doing it as a DIY equals -50 girly-man points. So I can validate Phil's reported score.
