My favorite hobby used to be buying/riding/selling motorcycles and cars for profit & fun. That's how I worked my way up to a Porsche. Started with a $250 XR350 dirtbike that I bought , cleaned, got running and sold for $850. Unfortunately once I got the Porsche my ROI started to drop significantly.
I have gone thru 50 bikes and several cars in the past 4 years though. Motocross is my favorite, but streetbikes are fun too.

Good question . . . I am spread too thin (money wise) to call any of them obsessions. Years ago I was a high-end stereo freak. Tube amp, electrostatic speakers, etc. But the fun kind of went out of that--it got so that I never listed to a full song! Just play a part, tweak the room acoustics or speaker placement, listen to a little more...

Then went overboard in photography equipment. Backed off on that but having more fun with lesser (as compared to my film setup) digital equipment.

Had a nice horse (hunter) for a while, which was fun but not fun enough for the expense.

Fly fishing was an obsession for a few years . . . Kept a few rods but sold my Winston bamboo.

A few years ago I got my diving certification, but MN is not exactly the diving capital of the world.

So the P-car. Having fun tweaking, detailing and driving. Not quite enough extra cash to try tracking it yet.

In this respect I envy my wife. She has had one obsession since she was 12--horses.

Restoring Antique Montblanc Fountain Pens (some worth more than our cars!!!).

Also, rectal thermometry (just kidding).

Chao, where is that port city picture? Looks like Greece, but not with that plateau in the background.

Jon, great pic of your wife riding through the field.

Tornik, cool hobby with antique Montblanc.

Maci, don't know what to tell ya.

I've got a boy turning 7 and a girl turning 3, fun and rewarding as you other parents know.....

We've also got 2 "red ear slider" turtles, they make cool little pets, along with our 2 cats, and yes they all play together, ha.

Back in the early '90s I was obsessed with capturing Iraqi tanks, but there was no future in that.

Now I enjoy my spare time hobby in the aircooled VW world.

Also enjoy a small collection of things like this:

And filling the cabinet with Porsche and VW models like 935s and transporters, primarily 1:43 and some 1:87.....

That's Cape Town, South Africa with Tabletop Mountain in the background. Truly one of the most amazing places on earth.

OK well I am only going to post one of my wierd collections of stuff.
So far I have enjoyed all the posts (except the one... you know)
Here is a pic I just took of "most" of my HO scale electric slot cars I have. Like other collections, some of these are worth quite a bit (say $200) and others less (say $20) I have about 100,000 feet of track so I can drive one to your house if you would like to see it up close

Most of these are from the 60's and 70's All the boxes are original 1968 Hot Wheels 48 car cases... (also collectable at about $50-$100 each)

Also collect Hot Wheels and skateboards.
I enjoy travel and have been to Vietnam, Hawaii (3x), Switzerland, France, Denmark, Canada (many many times) and most of the western 1/2 of the US states, plus a couple on the east coast. (all travel was after I got married 13 years ago) I have 2 boys ages 9 and 10 and they have been with us on all the trips except one to Hawaii (honeymoon)

Skier for 30+ years
