Cool Whats this hose for??

Gents,

Could anyone tell me please what this hose attached to the throtle intake tube(from the airbox) is for/what its function?
Its my friend's 40th Anniv. So question #2 is it just on 40th Anniv cars or X51 engined cars?
It wasn't on my ex-996(MY02).

Trying to help him.

Thanks!

I have that on my 02 C4S as well, asked that question once, didn't get a sure answer. I think it's some kind of return hose for gas/exhaust/combustion vapors or something.

I don't have the hose, but if it's on the 40th anniv, then it's not for a tip. I have an '03.

Mike,

It's a breather line found on all X51s and Tips. Not exactly sure why it's there. Some say it's just an equalizer line. It does have a fair amount of suction though.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Gents! Car is not a tip. Its a 40th Anniv Edition which has an X51 on it.
I hope its just a return hose for exhaust/combustion(EPA), then it wont be a problem for what he's(my friend) is trying to do.

It goes to the "sucking jet pump" on X51 and Tiptronic cars.
The pressure ratios in the intake system are changed by the optimized induction system on X51 (and Tiptronic ) so this is needed yo keep the ratios balanced.

What he ^ said!!!

Just for the record, I didn't have a clue what that hose was for (other than it directed air some where) prior to Loren's post.

Nice Loren, as usual. BTW, is it true that your last name really is "All-Things-Porsche" or is that just a rumor?
