Engine Start button for 996/986

I also wired up a power outlet light trim to give it a oem look.
You still have to put key in and turn to deactivate steering lock/immobilizer.
This is specifically for the 996/986, but Im working on the 997 as well.

Pretty cool, well done.

People think push button start is new, but early '50s Bugs had a push button start, too!

The Austin-Healey also had push button ingition in the 50's.

My 53 Porsche 356 was push button start.

( I just wanted to feel like I "fit in" ) - (for once )

If all you have to do it get in the car and push the button like many modern cars have with the smart key fobs than it's great! otherwise, I 'm fine with starting my 911 the old fashioned way with my left hand

Yeah, after I got my 996, it took me a while to get used to inserting the key on the left side, but after a while I realized that I had become amphibious and could use either hand, as needed, to start cars.

Between my Porsches (Left hand ignition) Saab (Center console) and "Normal" cars I dont know where the hell to put a key anymore!
