Default X74 Suspension for Sale

I have an X74 suspension kit (for the 996 C2), which includes shocks and springs, front and rear sway bars with bushings and body reinforcement plates that install by the rear tail lights. It was installed in December 2008 and used until February 09. I may have put about 200 miles on the vehicle as it is a Sunday driver only. Excellent condition. $1800.00

PM me if interested:

Also have 996 MK2 OEM exhaust tips - brand new never used in box $175.00

How does the X74 compare to the PSS9 setup for a DD? Were these take offs after a sale of the vehicle? Does this include everything necessary or is anything missing? Thanks

I believe the X74 is a much better setup than the PSS9 for DD. The increased handling performance is pretty incredible (imho). Car is tight and stiff.

No it was not take-offs after vehicle sale. I replace the X74 with something different for my current driving style. This include everything. Nothing is missing.

I need to make a correction to the above as I misspoke and did not interpret the term “DD correctly. DD = Daily Driver?

If your car is a daily driver then I would probable stick with the PSS9s. With the PSS9s you have the ability to control vehicle damping (soften or stiffen), which allows you to select ride quality for your environment. The X74 is fixed.

What is the difference between the X74 and the "sport" suspension that is on the 2004 40th Anniversary?

I do not know much about it but I do know that it is lowered by 10 mm compared with the standard 996 model. A more firmer suspension (more inline with the M30 ROW??), an extra mechanical rear-axle differential lock and electronic Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system. The X74 will lower your vehicle 30-40 mm and, I believe, is much more stiffer and tighter.

Having never done a suspension on a Porsche and working alone with the car on jackstands, it took me 10 hours.

A spring compressor is NOT needed. You will need to remove the front brake calipers to get the old suspension out. Buy new caliper bolts ahead of time (they are single use stretch bolts).

The 40th Ani car has the US M030 suspension, this is the standard US sports suspension. This has the same ride height as the standard US car.

The x74 will lower the car. The x74 uses the same sway bars as the M030 suspension. The springs are stiffer and shocks are shorter. The springs are made by H&R and the shocks are by Bilstien. The x74 shocks are higher quality and provide a firm but higher quality ride than the M030. X74 also comes with it's own strut bearings and "hat" attached of presumable firmer rubber bushings. The x74 also comes with 2 body reinforcement plates that attach by the tail lights of the car. After installing the plates I cannot for the life of me figure out what good they could possibly do.

I have been DD my x74 for 2 years now and love it.

More info here: http://www.pca.org/panorama/sample_article_3.html

The x74 ride is similar to the GT3 suspension. However, the GT3 has less body roll due to thicker swaybars (adjustable) and the GT3 also uses coil over, threaded body shocks that can be height adjusted.

The article mentions that this was not available on cabs. I would assume that it was an additional weight issue. I am starting a new search for a p-car and am thinking about a 1999 996 cab with EVO SC as a possiblity. I know nothing about 996 other than driving a friends coupe. I have had several air-cooleds as was planning on another 993 Cab, but this car came to my attention.

I do not believe that is true as there has been a lot of misinformation out there over the years pertaining to the X74. Here is an individual who has installed the X74 on his 02 cab..

It wasn't available on Cabs. For that matter it wasn't available in the US.

I have had X74 on my 02 Cab since April of 08.
