Coolant Reservoir (Tank) Replacement for 3.6L
I have seen the posts were the cracked Coolant Reservoir is discussed but have not found a good description of the DIY replacement for the 3.6L. Can anyone provide a description/diagram or provide a link to where I can find one! I know its been discussed but nobody has explained how to fix it?
Btw, just as a backround my extended waranty expired on Feb 25 and I didn't know that it was expiring so soon so I didn't rush it in to the dealer, instead I set an appointment for today March 2nd and now the GE Extended Waranty Services won't cover it because they say the contract is up! ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH! A couple days late! Hey, maybe someone has some advise for me regarding that?

I just heard from my shop that the coolant reservoir was cracked.... my wife told me that there was white smoke coming from the rear and my dad said the car smelled like coolant...I think they charge me about 500 bucks including reservoir and think that that is a reasonable price....but is it??

I've had a 3.6L coolant reservoir sitting around for a few months (turns out my tank wasn't leaking, it was a non-OEM clamp, long story short it's fixed), it's new in box from sunset, never attempted to install, if you'd like it drop me a line with an offer

I did this job and discussed it on a couple of threads on this site.
1) It is similar to the 3.4 job, except access is a little tighter so:
2) You may have to do a partial engine drop. I did. The engine drop was relatively easy but:
3) The job was a BITCH to do. I've never heard myself using such bad language, and I pride myself in using bad language innovatively.
So, in summary.
Yes it can be done DIY. Yes the 3.4 procedure tells you most of what you need to know. Yes it is a disturbingly unpleasant job.

i did this myself as well and it is hard to do. However, having just done my motor mounts, the partial engine drop is super easy and makes it much easier to access everything.
However - for $500 installed you may want to save your knuckles and time at the confessional for horrific language.

I think I paid about $400 for replacement but I bitched so much because it wasn't covered under CPO that I think he felt sorry for me. Still can't understand how this cannot be covered as the warranty specifically says it covers the coolant system.
