Default Horn Problem

My 996 has an annoying problem that started two days ago. The car horn seems to be "beeping" at random intervals.

It chirps when I start the car and sometimes when I'm just driving down the road. Yesterday, it beeped when I pulled up the emergency brake.

The "Chirp" is very short, similar to the sound the car makes if you lock it with the center armrest open.

I tried to search, but the board search function does not seem to be working properly.

You fellas got any ideas, because frankly I don't even know where to start wrenching to solve this problem.

Awesome again Loren !

I think Loren "lurks in the weeds" waiting to pounce on a problem. In the meantime he has the luxury of enjoying the "scenery" that pops up every now and then.

Funny story:

Mine was beeping like yours a while back - especially under braking. I took it to the track and it was seriously HHOONNKKIINNNGGGG in every braking zone. Not a beep, but a LONG honk. The first session, the corner workers all thought I was honking at them and would wave at me. And people in front of me kept giving me passing signals because they thought I was pissed at them and wanted by.

I ended up taking the fuse out that day. FWIW, I replaced the whole contraption instead of the DIY fix.

Welcome to Rennlist.

It looks like I will need to dust off the 996 PET Catalog again!

You're in the right place - we love modding and fixing problems on other people's cars.

Can't wait to see photos!
