WTB: 2002+ 996 C4S - HELP!
Hey Folks,
I'm looking to buy a 2002+ 996 C4S with the following specs:
Exterior Colour (in order of preference): Silver, Grey, Black, Yellow, White, Red
Interior Colour: Black
Mileage: Less than 36000 Miles/60,000km
Location: preferably in Canada so as to avoid duties, taxes, and other fees
Coupe but would consider cabs.
Prefer stock as I want to add the following mods:
- Techart 19" Formula GTS black wheels
- Techart Type III rear spoiler
- Techart side skirts
Price: I'm looking to get this vehicle with the specs and mods above to my door within 47KUS - is that realistic? If not then please clue me in.

A month ago, I saw an '03 C4S in NY with 25k miles go for ~$37k on eBay. I'm not sure about the availability of these cars in Canada, but I think you should be able to find a very nice example for $47k. Heck, Phil G might even sell his to you!

OK - I found one local in Calgary - let me know what you think.

He's asking $49,900CDN but he's down to $45,000 (about $33K US).

Looks like it has sports exhaust and upgraded stereo. Get a PPI at a reputable Porsche indy and test drive it (if possible). $33k is definitely in the ballpark.

Rem - very nice car, nice colors and well-equipped. Of course it has 36K miles (as opposed to 3K) but for the money it sounds like a good deal. Look it over carefully, and have a full PPI done before you put down a cent on it. Good luck. Sure you don't want mine for a mere $17K more??

Thanks folks - I'll keep you posted on the progress. Quick question - would you guys recommend Carfax, Autocheck, Carproof - any of them? All of them? I know Carfax has had some negative press recently regarding their vehicle information not being complete. Any thoughts?

Carfax wouldn't hurt, but don't make that the primary document for making the final decision. It is just a little more data to consider when making your decision.

I looked at dozens of Carfax reports prior to my purchase. I don't think I looked at a single negative report for a 996. The PPI is much more important - I would recommend getting the most knowledgeable shop you can find.
