Default My Clutch Popped...

Well i know my Clutch is Shot... But here is my Question, it Popped right at Redline in 1st Gear, while Shifting into 2nd... I Pressed the Clutch Pedal and it got Stuck Pressed In... Is it just the Clutch or something else is also Worng here? I can drive the car, just cant Floor it and the Clutch Pedal feel Sticky While Pressed and Very Free in the Middle...

I hope its just the Clutch and nothing else...

Air in the lines? Clutch slave cylinder leaking?

Take some pics if it is an actual clutch plate issue please.

i cant think of why RPM would effect the clucth other than ... well I cant think of a reason

Most of the parts in there are easy access so once its open... look at them all and find the one that is bad (might be the arm or sliding sleeve on the tranny side?) Its possible that something is on the slider (like oil?) that makes it sticky... but why RPM would change it seems wierd

well i know the Clutch is done because when i floor it, its revs free... As for the Pedal being wierd, you think the Relese Bearing went too at teh same time?

My guess would be broken pressure plate. No biggie.

Thats the only thing I can think of that would 'pop' like that and
have those symptoms after. It explains the slipping and the light pedal feel.

If it were hydraulic or the release lever you would probably have trouble getting into gear.

like we all say, it needs to be opened and looked at, could be the disc came apart, the release bearing is messed up, or the pressure plate broke a tong off or bent...or.. just open it up and get to fixin' it...

normally you replace all the parts at once, so it doent matter which is bad... but do chect the arm, and sleeve on the tranny side for anything unussual....

Your description matches mine exactly. Pressure plate failed during a shift from 1st to 2nd at near redline. I too could drive it as long as I was easy on the "go" pedal. I had to replace the clutch and the pressure plate only. I shopped around and found a Porsche dealer that would replace it for $1200, with other's estimates up to $1500. If there is damage to the flywheel you can add about $1000 to the total.

great info... If you are inclined to DIY its about $500 range w/o flywheel, I helped a fellow RL member with this job (I just helped with the "install" the dis-assembly he did on his own because there was other things he was doing in conjunction) But its not too bad with 2 guys on the garage floor and some fresh coffee to stop and have a break every so often... (alone might be pushing it, its a little akward and sort of heavy)

If its not "slipping" I say drive it just take it easy...fix it within a week though...(or stop driving) dont let it go on too long

I cant give you a haircut over the telephone so this is just an opinion with no real idea of "exactly" what has gone on....if in doubt error on the side of caution

The fork is not "on" the pressure plate.

The fork is aka the clutch release fork, which presses on the throwout bearing.

So which is it, the pressure plate was broken or was it the release fork?
