Default Muffler Bypass Pipes- Awesome

I put muffler bypass pipes on my 996 a few weeks ago. The car is very loud. I am sure that I **** off my neighborhood every time I drive down the street. The sound is awesome. It drones like crazy. After a week, I have learned to love the sound. I only planned on keeping the pipes on for a weekend but I think that I will leave them on now. The sound is awesome but definataly not for everybody.

Not only is the sound great but there is a very noticeable power increase.

The above is just my opinion.

at least 30 IHP !!!

yup they are loud!
What's wierd is I followed a 2000 C2 the other day with them on and his sounded very mellow (low rpm) I wonder if they are louder inside than out? I checked his car after he said they were by-pass pipe because I didnt believe him...

Have fun!

What brand did you use and how difficult was the installation?

I have to admit that I sold my Fabspeed by-pass pipes because I thought they were too loud for driving around the neighborhood. Great sound, though.

if you are not too picky about brand name, the pipes are so simple anyone can make them.. the trick is to get nicely welded, nice looking lips..

Install for a first timer is about an hour IIRC, the by-pass pipes only take 10 minutes... its getting the old mufflers OUT that takes time. I have done this 4 or 5 times now and it gets easier each time. The mod is completely reversible so if you dont care for it, you can go back to stock in a flash...

IT'S LOUD, but worth doing too... just not something I wanted to run everyday up and down the freeway... The kids loved it and keep talking about it...
