Default 19" Lowenhart wheels - what are they worth?

I found a car that I'm considering but don't care for the blingy wheels. Anyone have an idea of the value of the wheels currently on the car? They're 19" Lowenhart (described as forged) and in good shape except for a minor scratch on one of them. I'd probably replace them w/ the 5-spoke '02 Carrera rims, which I think look great on a dark car.

I'd keep them if they were mine - 5 spokes aren't that unique. Biggest issue is the higher cost of 19" rubber vs. 18" IMO.

Thanks, but I can't really sell them yet. I haven't bought the car.

Just trying to determine the differential value between these wheels and the '02 Carrera or 5-spoke 997 wheels, which I think will be more to my taste.

yup, looks like a 99' C2 same colors as mine, nice ride IMO

You might opt to remove the wheels and put them in the garage for a while, maybe you will re-consider 6 months down the road.....

To answer your original question, you should expect at least a swap of these 19" wheels w/ a set of 18" 5-spoke OEM wheels - not sure if you can come out ahead financially.

Thanks for the info. I'll consider it a wash, then.

a genuine multipiece lowenhart wheel is staggeringly expensive at retail, but I have no idea if they resell well. If it's what I think it is, it's an X1R, which means forged, two piece, super expensive, and Porsche exclusive (they also make a wheel exclusively for ferrari). They als were 19x10 rear if I remember correctly, and even forged as they may be I doubt they weigh less than an 18X10 OEM wheel.

If I were to guess, they would have more value (street cred) to the 6speed crowd, you might be able to do very well on a trade + cash for someone's 18s, or not.

Thanks for the info, htny, I think you're right. I found some other pics on the web and it appears they are the X1Rs. If I buy the car I'll list them on 6speed as well. Luckily they're still in good shape and have the chrome wheel bolts, too.

Mother, not sure. I grabbed these pics off the seller's website. I'm seeing the car for the first time this Saturday so will find out then (a friend looked at it last week and said it was in decent shape). I certainly will have a PPI done before buying it.
