Default Center Console Change

Could somebody tell me how hard it is to change out the useless cassett drawer which is in the top position of the console (01 Cab) with the standered tray. I see the tray is about $25.00 but really do not want to remove the whole console unit for a change out. Thanks

Open one of the cassette drawers and pull, the whole unit comes out and you can just pop a new storage bin right in.

It really IS EASY. I finally got around to taking my center console out to paint it, & I realized 996 interiors are like legos, everything is either unclip, pull, yank, etc. lol. Everything comes off so easy. It really makes you realize that Toyota had more to do with it than it seems.

The guy that sold me the bumper covers told me the exact same thing about Toyota helping with the design... But I'm still waiting for my car!

Agree the cassette tray is useless, but not bad looking. What are folks replacing it with? Not leaving the area empty, are you??

The "cubby" is the replacement. This and a powered ipod adapter is my next mod - when I get a job...

After learning that it would be some serious $$$ to upgrade the audio, I think I'm going with the cubby + ipod adapter myself.

+1, and I'd rather listen to the car.

I plan to use this with a power line noise filter. $45 total plus the price of a cubby.

There's a guy in Austin who has built a special adapter that works with my radio (CDR-220) that also charges the iPod. It's a little more expensive at $75, but I think it's worth it.
