- my wife does not like being called and air bag and told me to tell you so.
I think there are some articles on door de-trimming at renntech that I was planning on following. Is there something special required to deactivate the airbag?
Oh wait, sorry Tim, I didn't mean to call yo' mama an airbag.

Yup, being out of work for an extended period of time will certainly clean out the bank account....

I found one of the sources of buzzing. There was about $2 in change in the area just forward of the shift assembly under the airbag sensor. Unfortunately some of it was too far forward to retrieve -- even with a straw with duct tape on the end. Still, hopefully this will remove one of my rattles.
The tech also mentioned that he secured the screw in the passenger door when he replaced the window regulator. Guess that just leaves the buzz in the driver's side door.
Not too bad!

RAC,
Man, over a year? That really sucks! Have you checked out the Jobs Wanted - Help Needed Forum here on Rennlist? There was a post there for some engineering work.

Thank you for the tip I did not know the section was there. Also I was able to get a lead from it. Thanks!

Just a thought on door rattle. I had a noise from one door, and it turned out to be the trim on the inside curved handle. When I squeezed it it went away. If you are lucky enough that this is all it is, then a piece of rubber (I use blown road bike inner tubes) or black felt will fix it.

I have 3 annoying rattles:
Passenger door: Seems to be coming from the lid to the door map box (or whatever it's called). When I press down on the lid, it stops. This one drives me INSANE. Will dismantle the lid and some point, if I can figure out how to get it off. (Does anyone know how?)
Rattle in dashboard panel adjacent to the passenger side A-pillar. I stuffed a small rubber gasket into the crack and the rattle stopped. A bit unsightly but effective.
Rattle in the area of the shifter turned out to be the spare change I keep in the ashtray for parking meters. It starts to rattle occasionally; a short, swift knock on the ashtray lid settles it down.
Rattles in a luxury car are one of my pet peeves and the 996's many plastic interior components don't help.
