Help removing radio

You're almost there. The radio has released, it's just a pull away. You may find some funky work behind the radio once you remove it which is causing it to jamb.
FYI, generally you have to sacrifice a finger tip in order to get it out. It's how you can spot a true 996 DIYer.

Finally got it out. It took one person pulling on the removal tools and another pulling from the cassette slot. It was tight at least 1/2 way out. No wires or anything pinched holding it in - just tight. The replacement CDR-220 is just as tight going back in so I didn't slide it all the way in yet. Now I'm having second thoughts about using it and thinking about going aftermarket.
