Default EVO CAI installed - What do I do w/ Breather Line??

Manny was kind enough to give me a great deal on his EVO CAI.
I have it installed, but don't know what to do with the breather line that was on the original stock intake. (I have a tiptronic)

Do I just cap it off? And can I find a suitable cap at Kragen?

Thanks,

A

Here is a straight on shot. The breather line normally connects to the left side of the plenum intake hose from the air filter.

The breather line is inserted into the left side of the OEM rubber hose near the throttle body, across from the MAF.
It draws in fresh filtered air. It has pretty strong suction.
I have no idea where it goes or what it is for.

that shiny hose going into the throttle body above it comes from the crank vent... and just wondering where this loose hose is venting from.

depending where that breather line originates, I guess you can tap into the crank vent line...

Why tap? Just buy a breather tube filter... like a smaller cone filter, from an auto-store.

BTW, you should sell the intake to me since you have "extra parts" and it doesn't work on your car. hehehe

Ahhh, good idea!

Nice try, but I'm already getting addicted to the better pedal response

I had the same problem when I installed an EVO CAI on my X-51 engine. Apparently only the X-51 engines and the tiptronics have this. EVO MS sold me a new "ventury tube" with a connection for the breather line for around $45.

If you order it new from EVO, as part of the ordering process they ask this question, and send you the correct version

problem with cone filter is once they get oil saturated, they tend to get messy, if you dont replace them.

I like Christians method best.

Aaron....glad you were able to order the correct part. funny, when i ordered it directly from evoms they did not ask whether is was manual or tip. they do not even mention it on the website.

Manny,

Yes, it's weird. That tube seems to the the red-headed step-child. I vaguely remember seeing a pic of it somewhere in the past, but couldn't find it online this time. So far I'm noticing better pedal response, and less e-gas lag. The sound actually got smoother, but no louder than the BMC. I'll post final pics and eval when I get the new tube.

Thanks Again!

It's because they think: "Why in the world would anyone drive an automatic Porsche?!"

It's just a breather hose, not an intake. It's just there to equalize pressure, not as a line for a high flux of air. Regardless, if the proper part exists for proper tap, that's the better way.
