Anyone update their navigation discs?
Sorry if this had been discussed, but did not find it after a few searches (might have searched wrong terms, of course)
Just wondering if anyone purchased and installed the new map updates that came out a little while ago.
Thanks!

mmm yea you will need "Professional Installation" if you dont have "Version 3.0", that can only be does via the Dealer... But if you already had your PCM II Updated when the First Update came out in 2004... You just insert the new Cd's and sit back and relax, untill it updates itself...

I did this update on the Cayenne. It is very easy, and it made a HUGE difference. The system was essentially worthless to me with the original discs because they didn't have detail beyond major streets in my home city. The new discs have everything. I'm very pleased with the update.

The price of that is another reason why I think portable units are better in many ways. A Garmin map update comes out one a year and I will pay the $75 update fee every other year. All GPS units in the U.S. have road maps made by one one of just two data providers, so they are working from the same place.
Aside from that it's the software that separates all of them. I think the Garmins of the world do the best job at that. Of course built-ins are always there and don't get stolen. That's a huge advantage.
