Default Deep sump oil pan

Hey Guys, has anyone done this mod to their car and if so how much is involved in it for the do it yourselfer? Im thinking about it for my '04 996.Brey-Krause Deep Sump Oil Pan

Scavenging and aeration in the oil pan have been identified as a problem in 996/997 and Boxster models experiencing high G-forces on the racetrack. The R-9095 oil pan spacer provides a simple solution. This spacer increases sump capacity by half a quart, providing more reserve to ward off starvation. The R-9095 is approved by the Porsche Club of America for use in PCA club racing Stock and Prepared class cars.

The R-9095 kit clears all factory options including the rear skid plate. Added oil capacities as well as increased oil pan surface area increase oil cooling and engine performance.

Note: Oil pan and sump baffle are OEM parts and do not need to be purchased.

Material: 6061 T6 Aluminum Alloy
Finish: Clear Anodized
Installation: For best results internal baffle passages should be modified. Modification instructions included in the kit.
Miscellaneous: Spacer adds .5 U.S. quarts to oil pan volume and improves internal baffling system. Extension bolts included in the kit.

not a fan of that kit... they extend the pand down but not the suction stem... what good is the extra oil if the suction cant get to it.

I prefer the x51 pan where the area of the interior baffle is increased by using the inner walls of the pan. Same amount of oil is used but the amount of oil in the baffle is increased.

Also, from PCA website oil starvation turned out to be a no issue afterall... on slicks, maybe..

stock..left, x51 pan.. right

In those pictures the pans look the same aside from the baffles. Is that the case? Can I just buy the X51 baffle and install that into my stock pan?

Yes I'll be running slicks so I am somewhat concered about the starvation issue.

Thanks

Tim, No, I do not believe the baffle is available separately.
You might also want to check with Sunset Porsche for the X51 pan.

The one on the left might be a 997 3.6 oil pan. 996 oil pans are simpler than the one on the left.

I have a used BK one if you want it. 1/2 of whatever the internet price is, free shipping. It was on for less than 6 months, and it's just sitting around in the garage. I replaced it with the X51 pan. It should be in perfect operational shape, but I haven't actually looked at it since it came off.

I'll post pics if you're interested.

=================================

[edit]I just went down and looked in the box. The whole thing is still connected with some serious glue stuff, and I'm not about to try and disconnect the spacer from the oil sump pan. So if you want it, you get the whole thing.

I'll sell this to anyone that wants it for $125.00 shipped [BK spacer, baffles, oil sump pan, plug]. The pan cover isn't pristine, but it's in perfect working shape. You might be able to undo it and put it on your sump pan. Also, you'll probably need a gasket or some of that serious glue stuff mentioned above
