Default key fell in water - not working anymore

i recently replaced my original 911 key with the "911" GT-3 style key. the other day i dropped my key in a very small amount of water, but the key is no longer working. the "911" part lights up still, but it doesn't lock/unlock the doors. i tried opening it up and letting it dry out, and also took the battery out for a while, but neither of those helped.

does anyone have any ideas for fixing this?

thanks in advance... josh

Try using a hair dryer to dry it out completely. Letting it "air dry" probably won't do the trick.

Also try resetting the key fob...place a new battery in reverse polarity for 10 seconds, then install it correctly.

Nicolaas,

So how did your keys damage your cell phone?

My key went through the laundry (clothes washer). Despite all the drying, cleaning, battery replacement, resetting...it was DOA. The light would blink when I pressed on the button--but nothing would happen. Had to buy a new transmitter & have the dealership match it to the car. About $250. Gr-r-r-r.
