Title says it all. I have an 01TT My doors were unlocked, I closed the hood with the keys inside the trunk and the doors automatically locked. Who knew that would happen? Not me. So, I got in the car with the help of a locksmith, but set the alarm off doing so, which apparently disables the standard "trunk open" switch. My key is still locked in the trunk. I tried the following:

1. Finding the manual trunk release. It is nowhere to be found. I have the front passenger tire off, the wheel well liner off. It is nowhere that it is supposed to be. I even looked behind the tow hook cover just in case. I can't get the headlight out because I can't get into the trunk to release it.

2. Tried the extra battery to the fuse terminal trick and that didn't work. I was hoping that would bypass the alarm.

3. Tried removing all the alarm fuses then repeated the above. No luck.

Does anyone know a trick to getting the headlight out without getting into the trunk? I'm thinking that the release cable is hidden somewhere underneath it. Remember the 01TT headlights are like the 02+ non turbos.

Bypassing the alarm so I can get the trunk to open with the normal switch?

Any help or well wishes would be greatly appreciated.

You may have to remove the passenger's side wheel well liner. the cable should be in that location. After this is all said and done, you might want to re-route the manual cable to a location near the front bumper cover for easier access in the future.

Uh, no...this does not happen. Not sure what you did, but since this is basically your first post, I do not feel comfortable telling you how to break into a Porsche

wross - I appreciate your loyalty to Porsche and their owners, but this is technically my second post, and my first was middle of last year. Second, it did happen. Third, I'm trying to get into the trunk not the car (the locksmith did that for me). I do, however, understand not wanting to post how to bypass the alarm online. Please call me if you know how (813) 367-7553. You can quiz me about my ownership if you'd like. Perhaps you have a headlight removal trick instead?? I'm not trying to sound disrespectful, I'm just frustrated.

Look at the second link Wross supplied. Remember that the pic shown is a Right Hand Drive car, so the cable is still on the passenger side.

Thanks wross and gota911. That second link helped to see where it was routed. I ended up unfastening as much of the front bumper as I could and pulled it back enough to where I could see under the headlight. I could finally but barely see the release cable. I fished it with a hangar and voila. I'm going to use the trick of putting it behind the tow hook. Thanks for helping steal the porsche. Kidding. Thank you.

Dumb question, but why do you only have a single key? You "should" have 3 (2 master and a valet).

This could happen if he used the key to open the trunk only, then closed the trunk without opening any doors. After about 10 secs the doors automatically re-lock.

So the car has to be locked first then open the trunk only? I though the OP said the doors were unlocked? This is so strange that the car would lock itself that way.

If you unlock the doors, but don't open them, they will re-lock within ~30 seconds.

So, scenario goes like this.

1. car fully locked
2. unlock doors on remote [unlocked]
3. pop trunk on remote [open]
4. put keys in trunk
5. close trunk [closed]
6. doors not opened within 30 seconds of remote unlock button pressed, doors re-lock [locked]
7. hosed
