I think if you read the manual it advises that you skip step #4.

I think the manual also says

8. Go and get spare key, unlock and be happy.

So, scenario goes like this.
  1. car fully locked
  2. unlock doors on remote [unlocked]
  3. pop trunk on remote [open]
  4. put keys in trunk
  5. close trunk [closed]
  6. doors not opened within 30 seconds of remote unlock button pressed, doors re-lock [locked]
  7. hosed
In the later model 996 manuals Porsche amended the wording on #7 to read:

7. hosed, you dumb f*ck!

Statman,

On the contrary, we want to be open and helpful.

Here's how to break into my Porsche:
1. Remove the R front tire, gently place it to the side.
2. Carefully pull back the inner plastic fender liner.
3. Gently feel around for the trunk release.
4. Pull trunk release.
5. Carefully climb inside the trunk. Think skinny!
(you will have easy access to everything you need here).
6. Close trunk lid behind you
(that way no one can see you breaking into my car).
7. Be careful of the interior light in the trunk, it may give away your position, so make sure that trunk is closed EXTRA tight.

Voila! You have now broken into my Porsche!
I hope that was helpful to any would be criminals out there.
Happy Holidays!

I had not revisited this thread since I got the car open. The comments were not so nice, but I guess I deserved it. Not sure what pics I could have sent to prove I was legit, but I can assure you it is my car. Thanks again to those who helped.

Good one man. Maybe he'd trying a prime number post record.

Life sucks some times. I should of burned a used lincoln to the ground the first day I had it cleaning the truck that night and the automatic electric trunk closer locked in the only key for it.

You misunderstood the reason for the pics request. It was not to prove you own the car, but because it is customary for Newbies to tell us a little about their car and to post pics of their car.

So with that said, here is your "Newbie Initiation!" Come on, Newbie, post the @#$%^&* pics!

Ahhhhh, I feel better!
