Update:

Checked the traps and found hairs. Only one of the traps actually worked. The other one had the bait taken from it. Replaced bait with peanut butter and the hunt continues.

I think peanut butter is a better bait than apple slices because it is messy and cannot take all of it away with one trip. The mouse needs to keep going back to clean it all off. Sooner or later, I am going to get it. Hopefully before I leave the country in three days....

Ferris wheel mouse trap.

Best set up ever for storage places. I use them in my shop and barns. work like a charm!

Five gallon plastic pail. String a cofffee can length wise with coat hanger wire then string through the lip of the pail such that the coffee can rotates on the wire in the opening of the pail. Paint peanut butter on coffee can such that can is balanced and rolls freely around the wire axis. Pour a gallon of anti freeze mix into the bottom of the pail. Place pail on the floor against a wall in storage location, with wooden ramps leading from the floor up to the lip of the pail.

VIOLA, dead, pickled (no smell) mouse trap you do not have to empty.

Works like a charm. I have caught over a dozen in my two barns since I set it in early November. Try it!

Default Hope mouse didn't gnaw on any wiring or other hardware while camping...

It is unbelieveable that there are holes in our car which allow a mouse to get in. My car has never been in an accident so ....

I cleaned out my trunk and set two mouse traps in there. Let the hunting begin. I just hope it does not make a mess....

For those of us who do not drive our cars often, it is probably a good idea to check the car for residents. (Paging Phil)
out in your car. Rodent damage quite common in winter to vehicles left parked for long periods of time. Inside or outside. Shelter is shelter and the drier the better.

Mouse probably got in my gnawing hole in something. It might be able to squeeze through the air vent flaps that vent cabin air to the outside and from the cabin then it squeezed or gnawed its way into trunk.

Check traps frequently. If one catches a mouse the stink will permeate the car.

Not likely though trap will work. With trap on carpet the animal can get enough grip its reaction time will allow it to jump out of way before trap catches it.

To catch fast reacting mice and even roof rats -- which became a problem in an older place I lived for a while when lots of development going on and old sheds, barns, and woodpiles being cleaned up -- put traps on top of dryer top in garage.

Slick painted surface didn't provide any grip. Caught one animal one night and the other the next night. No more problems.

Sincerely,

Macster.

10 mouse traps in my garage- I refresh peanut butter in traps every few weeks. The worse is when they eat through wire harnesses- I put socks over exhaust pipes also

Like I said, Cheap Insurance even if it doesnt work, the smell is not a negative and it surely wont hurt anything, but it will work
They say in the link that "Fresh Cab" was tested and repells rodents,
but does it mean that regular dryer sheets work also?

Is this another internet myth?

I am parked in a public parking garage. I have to move the car to another parking garage in a few days anyway.

Hopefully with cleaning out the trunk and a different location, his relatives and friends will find another place to spend their winter.

WOW you really caught one in your car, hope they did not damage anything to your car... Those are the exact same size mices that I frequently catched on my sticky pads in my garage at the thin side-gaps on both sides of the garage door.

That is my concern now. What did he chew through to get in? I have heard that mice can squeeze through holes the size of a pencil but it still worries me.
