2000 Millenium Edition 996
#16
I have a close friend who has an opportunity to acquire a 2000 996 Millenium Edition. It has 12,000 miles, one owner and perfect in every way. It is number 336 of 911 made. Violet Chromaflair paint with natural leather and burl walnut trim. Center console is even full leather. Wheels are chrome turbo twist. Obviously a garage queen. It is a C4 3.4 L car and no warranty issues or engine replacement.
Does anyone have an opinion of a reasonable price for this car? The current owner is thinking $45K while I think $30 to $33K is more in line and perhaps even a bit high.
Thanks for any feedback.

Your idea of pricing is a lot more realistic than his. Here's a price point for you.--a buddy of mine who buys Porsches like some people change their underwear just bought a beautiful 996 C4S Cabriolet (2004) for $45,000 yesterday. Sadly, a 2000 car is a 9-year old car today. The "special edition' aspect of the car is not a factor for a car that isn't that special in the first place. There are plenty of 996s out there. Today's a buyer's market and your cash has the best purchasing authority than ever before. Don't throw it away.

Closer
Are you implying that I own this car? Give me a break! And if I did own this car, I know better than to ask this question on this site! My reason for the post was to help my friend obtain additional information which he could use to help negotiate a more reasonable price.
It's Christmas...maybe change your screen name to "happy puppy" for perhaps one month?

Excellent Feedback
And thanks everyone for your feedback. I especially agree with Edgy01 on every point made. My 01 996 has a new engine replaced by me after 57K miles. Likely due to track use anyway.

Yikes I would hate to be long one of those and have it marked on my books at 45k. As has been mentioned I believe the real price is closer to 30 to 33k tops tops tops. My 4 tick wide market is 29/33 in that thing.

Alex, that car is a low 30's car and the owner should be counting his lucky stars to get anything in the high 20's or better. If it was my car, I would offer it at about 33K and take the first 25K+ that comes my way. It's a sad state for ANY luxury item these days.
BTW, are you still doing member days? Looking forward to seeing you soon

Hey LV. No on the Member Days as I de membered in July from VIR. I will still be doing DE in 2009. Also, I intend to participate in the NASA event in February where I expect to get my Comp license and perhaps see you at some Club Racing events next year.
Have you bought Terry's car yet? I know it would be a good fit for you! Good to hear from you and have a great Christmas.

I decided that Terry's car was not the way to go for me. GTB needs to be larger before I would consider making the jump. G is a fantastic class with great drivers so I am going run there for the foreseeable future.
No more DE's for me. I decided to do races and member days for practice. If I do the PCA DE's it will be with my region so I can support them as well as offer my instruction.
