Odd 'pop' noise from dash, then radio cut off
This has been going on for a while (the pop) but today it was tied to the CDR23 going off.
When I first get in the car, there is a fairly loud single POP emanating from the center dash area, almost near the alarm, seems like. Just one pop. But loud enough that it would be similar to a good rock hitting your glass. Got it?
So after a few weeks of this (one pop, only when I first get in, or sometimes just open the door and am ready to get in - and no, it's not even close to the door), I decide to get it checked out. I did notify my service advisor, and will get in soon.
But today I head out, and about 20' from the house, the pop goes off again, and this time the radio shuts off. I turn it off, then on again, no sound. Had that happen before, and have had a few head units exchanged, and amp too.
In order to get the sound back on (radio), I have to turn off the car, arm it, disarm, then restart. Radio comes back fine, all settings where they were.
So the question is - has anyone EVER experienced a noise like this (single pop noise, near the center dash), and if so, how was it resolved?
I'm beginning to think based on today's episode that a cable is pinched behind the head unit.

The pop can be heard when you first get in the car, when it's cold and not been run for at least a day. I don't think it's the amp. And this noise is more than something like that. It's scary loud when it pops.

Here's the update:
I too thought it was going to blow. A couple weeks ago it did it several times as I drove away from the house, and the friggin Becker shut off (POS anyway). So I took it to the dealer while the radio was dead, and the PIWIS could not find the amp (now that sounds funny).
Left it overnight, and sure enough, the tech heard that loud pop the next morning when he got in, and it too scared the $#@& out of him.
He slid the head unit out, and the noise did not repeat. Then they replaced the amp (under ext warranty), and so far, popping noise is gone and all is well.
Stay tuned. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hahahahaha....No Steven. It's a LOUD noise. And it will scare the crap out of you, as it did my tech.
Amp was replaced. Seems to have solved it.
