Never heard of any unusual problems with the AWD system.

I have 99 C4. I have found that the AWD adds a bit of complexity and expense to maintenance items. For example the clutch replacement requires more labor, there is an additional transfer box, (which can leak or fail) the components of the spring/strut are different, the fuel filter is in a different location. I have to look harder for C4 info. When I talk to a Tech I have to say C4 because the answer may not be the same for the C2. None of this stuff is hugh but something to be aware of.

I have an '03 C4 cab. 20K miles in 2 year for a total of 60K miles. To date I have had no trouble with the AWD system. Surefooted in every situation I've exposed it to. The hardest part is having to put the top up when it rains or snows. Not that it doesn't work, it just feels so confining! I have a picture somewhere of me drifting sideways through the snow with the top down (PSM off). I must find that and post it here!
