Installed the PSE cans
1. Those things are heavy.
2. Ideally, one would also be tempted to take the headers off but the mufflers come out with some strategic manipulation.
3. It definitely took longer than an hour (took me about 3.5 with some of the issues I ran across). The longest bit was transferring the pipe and the collar clamp over and adjusting the tips. The second muffler went by quicker, but I think it's due to crud on my glasses and not being able to see very well. I did all the nuts by feel. Asphalt isn't exactly kind to your back. And my driveway is a hill so it became increasingly difficult.
4. While I took the first exhaust tip off completely, I found out later that you don't have to do this at all. maybe it's exclusive to the C4s. The small pipe that connects the tip to the muffler is all you need detached and the clamp that goes around the exhaust tip tab (again, maybe exclusive to the C4s?)
5. The second exhaust can was a royal pain. The cat pipe and the muffler didn't line up. Needed some physical pursuasion.
6. It sounds like mechanical sex.
FYI, the 3 bolts are 1/2" Hex, the Tip's clamp bolt is 13mm and the joint clamp of the tip pipe and the muffler pipe is 16mm. I forgot what the 2 large cat pipe nuts are, but they're larger than 16mm.
Hopefully, it doesn't draw the local law enforcement attention. I already have speed yellow so I don't need more. ;-)

nice!!!
Yes they are a pain, the ground not being smooth is an issue after a while.. GJ keeping it going.
Yes, you can leave the tips on,
No need to remove the headers, I think that would add some trouble.
It is like sex... hard work, but worth it in the end
You now have knowledge and that makes it easier if you ever have to go at it again, or want to advise anyone.
I did this 4 times now, I have it down to 20 minutes from car in and turned off, to driving out, all in my garage with no lifts, just some basic "been there, done that!"
Good job, i bet it sounds great!

OH and those clamps that are impossible to take off because of the indentation that means you have to spread it WAY open to remove it... I removed the bolt completely and put a pickle fork (ball joint splitter) in the opening and just pushed really hard, clamp is held open and come right off...then slips right on the next one, pull out the tool and install the bolt (A large screw driver may also work for this, just helps get the clamp opened up so you dont have to fight it so much)
ALSO if you are doing some by-pass pipes or other mods, the outter ring on the clamp is all you need to transfer over, the coiled up tube is not used and by using the method i stated above, you can slip the clamp off of the tube (or on depending on which way your mod is going)
Since the by-pass pipes can be added in only a few minutes by using these ideas, you can take them off when your ears are thru ringing and you just want to drive the car.... then again... put them on for a boat load of fun...but not too long, your ears will thanks you for going back to your cans!

took the car out for an extended ride. Oh my lord. The raucous made whle on the loud pedal is crazy good. Silent when off throttle and cruising.
Although, I seem to have a rattle. Sounds like thin tin and I guess I have to tighten the bolts again? Sure sounds like the three mounting nuts versus something 'thicker' sounding.
Everyone turns heads as I roar by them, ehhehe.

I'm glad you're enjoying your new mod. I've never had a problem with attracting attention from law enforcement. However, if you see a cop around and you're concerned, just go easy on the gas and you won't generate as many decibels.
Enjoy!!!
Enjoy!!!
there's no problem with the sport sound.
If you kick down the accelerator and raise the engine to high revolutions, It will sounds strong but never as bad noise.
Just control the gas and enjoy it
I even went the extra mile to put a switch to connect/disconnect the speed signal in so that it would silence automaticaly under 35mph (just in case some EU would buy my car)... that is the reason to have the PSE... the sound is just one big bonus.
I had the button in my car and never used it.... except when I just wanted to play with it and make sure it still worked. But I honestly can't say that I ever derived any functional benefit from having it installed.
.... so you had the button and took it off?
I often use the quiet switch in downtown traffic. Also, there are times when I just want a quiet car, either due to mood or the particular passenger with me.
OK....the best is with young kids. Start the ride with the quiet switch on, then ask them, "Do you want to supercharge the engine?? Hit the BUTTON!!!" As they push the switch, accelerate hard. Better than cartoons. (Sorta adds a little if you scream that you can't control the car.)

I dont understand why people dont connect the silence button... it is the best thing ever... I didnt think I would use it...but there were plenty of situations that I did use it.

redridge,
do you have instructions on how you added the extra switch? I want to do this to mine too.
In other words... the pink/grey wire is the speed signal that goes to the PSE relay. Use a toggle switch to open/close the speed signal (pink/grey wire) to the PSE relay.
