Finally - the dream comes true...
Proud first-time owner of the dream car from my youth...Picked up an '01 Cabriolet precisely four weeks ago and have enjoyed every minute of owning it... I catch myself going into the garage at odd hours cooing "oooh shiny..." While it's an absolute rush to drive, I find myself perfectly satisfied keeping it in the garage and rubbing it with a soft cloth (microfiber of course) and marveling at the simple beauty of it. And of course... the added pride of being the only real gem in the parking lot at work, among the more pedestrian Z4s and SLs (seems like every fourth person has a beemer or a benz around here, although there are a couple of 'Vettes and caddies...)
Anyway happy to be part of the P-car community - the price of admission was worth every nickel...

Thank you all for a hearty welcome! I've been lurking around here until I could take a suitable photo for my avatar but along the way I managed to take a couple of decent extra photos. They're the best I can do for a guy without a lick of artistic talent and no photographic eye whatsoever. Here are a few of my new baby...

Welcome to Rennlist and congrats to a very nice and clean 996 Mk1 Cab!
Be aware that this place is dangerous. There's a high risk of getting addicted and mod the hell out of your car.
Of course you need clear side markers! Then, a lower suspension; a nice exhaust but of course the exhaust just sounds right when you get headers and an intake. Chip tuning will compensate for the loss of low end torque and gives you a better throttle response and then there's the plenum! On the inside you just have to have a short shifter and gauge rings as well as nice pedals. Btw, do you have a 3 spoke steering wheel?
Just kidding! Enjoy the fulfillment of your dream! I still do every minute I drive her and it's almost 3 years! It’s not a car – it’s a Porsche 911!

Congrats!!! Welcome to the best 996 forum in the universe!!!
I'm receiving a pumpkin alert! While many will advise you on mods to make, I would def. swap out your orange side markers for the smoked markers....literally a 2 minute upgrade, and cost about 30 bucks...you can get them cheapest at.....hmmmmmm, I forgot, but someone will chime in. I know Eric at www.bumperplugs.com. has them as well.
Good luck....drive safe, and enjoy that gorgeous new sled of yours,
J
