So how long do you expect a water pump to last? Mine lasted a little over 6 or 7 years and I didn't complain about it when I had to pay for it. Still not sure why you are so pissed about it.

When I first took the car in due to noise, they told me it was probably the water pump. I wasn't upset about that single item going out since I understand that things can break randomly, but when they called back and said pump, and RMS, and differential, and hood struts, I was pissed.

Most important thing here to me is that you shouldn't let the dealer do repairs out of warranty. That's just plain foolish in my opinion. Get a good independent and I'll bet the bill is close to half what you'd pay at the dealer. I'll bet you wouldn't be as pissed if it were only $1600 for all of that work.
