Trifecta
With a car that age, things will start failing in groups. I took my car for some repairs (AC/Sunroof, etc) as i was driving no more than 50 feet from the dealer, the alternator died, went back to take care of the alternator, got the car and 2 days later RMS. Yes, I know your pain but mileage means nothing to a hose/connector/electric components that are 7 years old. Trade-in for a new car or buy an extended warranty. that will be the best $3000 you will spend in your life.
Sorry, but your are not thinking rationally at all.
100K car? It's nowhere close to that and nowhere close to what you paid for it. It's a 35K car at best and 7 years old. When it was new, maybe 85K and under warranty. You expect a car to be perfect and never have a consumable be consumed? Pumps fail over time and seals need replacement over time. It happens. Would it leave the same taste in your mouth if it happened while under warranty or CPO? If it wouldn't then we have figured out the root of the problem.....you don't want to maintain a car that is going to need to be maintained. It sounds like you need to lease then.

If the same had occurred while under warranty, I would have questions about the reliability as well. And yes, I expect more from a vehicle that is priced that high.

I will be changing vehicles.
Then you fail to understand what you are buying. Go get a Camry if you want near perfect reliability and obscenely low maintenance costs. But guess what? Water pumps fail on Camry's as well.
96K for a coupe? Talk about over-optioned. That's almost 20K in bling. You have an 78K (new) car that has wear and tear items that need replaced. You bought it used and have NO IDEA how it was treated a priori. Items wear out over time and need replaced. That's it.
How long have you had it? What did you pay for it? My guess is you have had it 2 years and paid low 40's for it. So, you statement should be based off of that. I don't look at my CAB that I actually did pay close to 100K for many years ago as a 100K car.......I look at it as a 7 year old CAB that has 7 years of wear and tear on parts. And when something does go bad, I fix it.
Obviously the marque doesn't affect you the way it does others. You must just look at it as a car and not a Porsche since you want perfect reliability. If this is all you have to pony up for you have a twisted idea of reliability. Those parts are RELIABLE and you have come to the end of the their reliable life. Go replace them.
Just curious....what is it you will be changing to?

I never said it was a coupe - it is a C4 Cab, I've had it for 4 and a half years, and I do have some idea of how it was treated before I purchased it with 4k miles on it.
Not sure what I might look at for the replacement, but I've got some time to figure that out.
Mind reader? Not even close
No, just going with all that was presented and just went for the lowest common denominator. Anyway, how do you know how it was treated before you? Were you riding shotgun for all 4K miles?
Forget pricing and forget how much these cars cost to fix at times.
The point is that you have lost sight on a few things. Are you pissed when your brake pads wear down and need replacement? Are you mad when the air filter gets dirty and needed replacement? Are you mad when the spark plugs need replacement? See the trend? Consumables that wear with age and need replacement.
I still fail to understand why you are so mad that you have to spend 3K to replace worn parts that will come with a 2yr warranty. I guess whatever you choose to replace it will have no parts that wear down?

Wasn't there a published report recently that ranked Porsche as one of the most reliable cars? And that was based on number of repairs per model year or something like that? Think about....who brings cars in for more ticky tack **** than entitled 100K car owners? That is saying something now isn't it? To be that reliable and still have to fix all the small crap means that these suckers are pretty darn good. I have owned 4 now over the last 8 years and not a single one has made me think that I need to move to another marque. If anything, these damn cars are like meth........

I believe that was the J.D. Powers initial quality survey which tracks defects per vehicle in the first 90 days only.
So how long do you expect a water pump to last? Mine lasted a little over 6 or 7 years and I didn't complain about it when I had to pay for it. Still not sure why you are so pissed about it.
And what exactly is "normal" driving? You don't want to see my definition of normal
