So I got a Cel telling me that a o2 sensor in my 2.7 Boxster was on its way out so I pulled it and replaced with a new one. Upon pulling it out I noticed that it was discolored and white as opposed to it being black like it should be. I have been losing some coolant but it has not been a large amount. No sludge in the oil filler tube. However, after reading up on the issue it appears that the buildup on the o2 was caused by something silicone based such as coolant. The engine has had no work done to it besides regular maintenance so I can't think of anything else that this could be besides coolant. I am not comforted by the fact that the 2.5-2.7 Boxster engines have about the same track record as the 3.4 911 engines. What do you think guys? Is my engine on its way out?

hmm, works for me. it is just a picture of an o2 sensor with a whiteish/greyish coating on the sensor tip. after doing some research I am convinced that it is ok as many have said that it is common to remove an old sensor and find that it is discolored.
