Default Oil leak source...... found

When Lerxst did his DIY pulled the transmission thread he posted a pic of an oil leak that he hasn't noticed....

https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/450954-my-diy-experience-pulling-the-transmission.html

I had the same weeping leak and decided to pursue the source.... It turns out that it is a failed "O" ring at the cam position sensor (right next to the AOS)... tight fit, pull the AOS bellows out of the way and the sensor is held on with an allen screw...took 30 min to pull out.

Sure doesn't look like 30 minutes from that pic.

yeah, good find. I bet the dealership would have had to spend weeks and replaced a dozen parts to fix it -- and they still wouldn't have had a clue what was causing it!

you replaced it with the tranny in? I just chased an o ring up front to the condensor and its very good feeling to fit a "big" problem for under a $1 (less your time of coarse)!!

WTG!
