I was driving thru Mystic CT on 95 last Thursday and pulled along a GR 1984 Targa (top down) entering and gave a thumbs up to the elderly man driving, he just gave me a look of annoyance and roared past me as I pulled into the right lane with his rear plate flapping in the wind, sorry I had to spoil his day.

Awesome -
Thatt is EXACTLY how I feel, I have spent my entire adult life from age 13 dreaming only of the 911. I agree whole heartedly with this statement and to be living with this is such a pleasure for me, I am sad to see for some it is just a status, transportation, or just a shiny car...
everytime I park it, I am sad... everytime I get closer to it again, I am ready to feel that passion, the excitement, the thrill of driving it.

YEA - Crazy........
I wave to all who are aflicted, we know who you are!

funny I wanted one since 13 too and got one this year after thinking I'd never get one. I hate the fact it looks like a boxster from the front, but I couldnt afford a later one, apart from that, I need to get out in a couple of times a week to get my fix. In the UK they never seem to wave. In all my years I've never seen a porsche going fast, they are either doing a steady 85 on the motorway or trundling along at 45 through towns. I've never seen one gun from the lights or overtake quickly or even accelerate. Mine though is driven differently, redlined out of roundabouts, overtakes at full chat with a lovely howl, joins at A road flat out through the gears. I remember in 1985 when I had a 1300 vauxhaul being overtaken off a roundabout by a sunbeam lotus, it stuck in my mind as it left me for dead, a blare from the exhaust as it went past, what a nice change to actually see it being driven as its meant to,. I saw a new lambo this morning, sounded fantastic, but it was driving around an ikea car park and hit all of 50 as it went off up the road, again it this crowded isle its hard to get anywhere fast. It seems the only cars that get driven quickly are the dreaded Tdi Vw's and Audi that populate the roads here, they are def foot to the floor all the time, its rather nice to follow them off a roundabout as they go off revelling in their 250 Ibft of torque to see them pull over into the inside lane accelerating and expecting to leave all others in their wake, only to have my silver arrow howl past them

Nice story, very much the same as me, especially the "not my fav front end, but was affordable" part

When I had my GTi everyone waved and reciprocated. Never happened in my BMW.

Generally, other 911 drivers wave back.

What is the stance on the "other" Pcars?

There's a grouchy old curmudgeon in my neighborhood who drives a black 997. He never waves. I've tried from the C4S and from the Cayenne, to no avail. I have found that most other Porsche sports car drives will wave. Cayennes, not so much...

I haven't yet seen a Panamera in person, so I can't comment about their drivers...

When I hit the road, everyone waves at me. Girls shove their nickers in my window. High school bands start playing and confettis/flowers are thrown in my pathway.

(and then my dog wakes me up)

I don't wave.

Doesn't make me a *****, a non-enthusiast, or any less of a porsche owner. I just think its stupid. I don't feel the need to recognize that another person has 1 thing in common with me.
