I've hit the 28.xx mark heading to Myrtle Beach this year.
Daily city is 18.xx top open and 19.xx top closed
I calculate my mpg using the difference of the miles driven per tank and gallons refilled.

10.2 MPG on my commute.
I think I could be under 10 if there wasn't a portion of freeway (I never exceed a certain speed)
I could never get more than 27 MPG on hiways

Sharkster: What TT is getting "28ish". I've never heard of one getting close to 28. In my old 99 996 I saw pretty decent mileage...but a TT? If so, what setup is it using? Are you talking about the 996TT? Surely you jest. I tried once just to see what I could get and babied the thing right after a fillup...and under ideal conditions....flat freeway for 50 miles on a 78 degree day at 70 mpg on cruise...25.3 mpg was it. ANY deviation from letting it cruise would see a drop of .1 or so in mpg.

From a road trip from San Jose to Dayton Ohio and back. 29.0 mpg average. The high point (before the Sierra) was 29.7 mpg
5147 miles at an average of 69 mph. (but in reality many of those miles at 85+)
These cars are very economical at speed. I think it is because of the aerodynamics.

Now if I hit the gas... I can watch the needle go....

Alex: Oh yeah....I forgot....you've got James there to make your setup "a little different". Can I borrow him for a week or so? I've heard that after a tune, some of the folks actually get better mileage after the DME has been remapped....havne't tried to check it since I got the UMW tune.

Some of the avatars don't show TT's...but rather 996's. Are we all talking about TT' here?....and I know that if you're cruising along on the freeway at say 70 and you reset your onboard computer to start as your'e tooling along up to speed, you can get some pretty high numbers....but I still say I just don't believe that a 996TT can get 28 mpg over a sustained run that includes some inclines...not just flat. Just running through a town and stopping at a couple lights will drop your mpg numbers. I'd maybe go for 25 or 26....but in truth, I have some reservations about getting 28-30....unless it was like the fellow who was coming down off the hill from Lake Tahoe......Yeah I know....Oh ye of little faith!! I know that the speedometers on these cars run about 4-5 mph high...and there's never been a thread that I've read that shows me any calibration stats for the onboard computer....and since Porsche fudged on the MPH....they could do the same on the MPG. Marketing strategies!! Or maybe Porsche threw in some shills during this time of high gas prices to extol the virtues of their gas efficient cars!! (jes' kidding guys)
