Need help with potential tranny issue.
Since I switched to Swepco 201 tranny fluid the car seems hesitant to leave first for the first couple of hundred feet it's driven. Anyone else experience this?

Swepco 201 is the wrong lubricant for your transmission. The factory fill is a Mobil product that is not generally available in the U.S. except from the dealer, but my dealer always seems to have it on back-order. Lufteknic sells a product that seems to work pretty well.

I was aware of this when I put it in but the local Porsche racing shop said it was fine as well did Suncoast Motorsports......
If it continues to bother me I will change it the recommended Mobil product.
Thanks

Swepco 201, as with any dino oil, requires a warm-up period of a few minutes before it will allow smooth shifts. Mobil 1 or other synthetics will likely provide better shifting in the 996, but probably not better protection for internal components (than 201).

I replaced my tranny oil with Royal Purple and its fine. Its not as smooth as the Mobil1 though.
Just make sure the spec grade is the same as Mobile 1. I believe its 90 NS GL5 with a friction modifier.

The 901 Shop quit using Royal Purple after seeing a new OEM 8:32 disintegrate after 4 hours race time. It's suspected that the Royal Purple gear lube has been reformulated to be "more economical to produce" (as we've seen over the past couple years with numerous engine oil producers).
Swepco and a couple other smaller oil companies, who have always made a decent profit from their superior (but more expensive) oils, don't seem to be short-changing their customers in this way.
