fwiw - I just received my center console from Eric, painted body color - it looks superb! Beyond what were already high expectations.

The install was not bad at all - so if you regret the color you pick, it's not the end of the world to re-do it. Good luck.

OK so I read this a long time ago and with the Mustard Hell picture I didnt study too close as mine is also stock and I didnt look at it as I was trying to look at the painted picture...
Then I looked and thought, "mine doesnt have THAT much mustard does it?" and sure enough mine doesnt. I took a coulpe shots....

So I think its stock, but NOT body color, more like a sandblasted plastic look with silver freckles embedded in it??? So what is it?? I like it !!

If anyone has pictures of a car with something like that done to it, I'd really appreciate it, thanks!
Here's what your grey interior would look like with the alumalook...

Note that I have alternating carpet color instead of the matching grey carpets. That helps to increase the contrast, so your results with alumalook would be even more subtle than this. Good luck.

That looks nice! Did you do the carpet yourself?

No, it was a factory option. But I'm pretty proud of those armrest covers... what a pain to re-install.

Ed - the plastic in the '99 (granite gray) is not a good choice for painting, trust me.

Go with either new parts (updated '00+) or leather.

Anyone with a guards red 996 or Boxster want a matching center console? I was browsing through eBay & found this one really cheap, thought someone here might appreciate it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...=p4506.c0.m245

No affiliation by the way.

So I haven't bought the stuff to paint my center console yet, because I wanted to get done with my current project FIRST(painting calipers red, & rotor hats/disc edge matte black) before I started buying things for the next project.

Well I just finished last night, so time to move on & start with my center console now... Can I use Duplicolor Engine Enamel on top of the paint? Or should I just buy regular clear coat spray? I'm buying all the stuff off of this site that color matches spray paints:
http://automotivetouchup.com/spray_paint.asp

Would I be safer if I just bought THEIR plastic primer, their spray paint, & their clear coat? If you guys know of better products that I can use, let me know, thanks.

Yes, don't mess with the system.

So I just got all the stuff in... Now, can anyone tell me how to remove my center console? Also how to remove all the other plastic bits which I might paint later on. Thanks!
