pretty sure that someone got those and installed them and then had dyno testing done and actually lost power everywhere in the power band. You'll have to search a little to find the thread.

I think the Suncoast headers are the ones to have if you're looking for power gains.

An idiot question :
Will headers designed for a GT3 fit a regular 996 engine ? GT3 uses the 'old' long bloc doesn't it ?
I thought the clearance between cylinders is a bit different than on the newer 996, but maybe I'm wrong ??

thanks

I have a disassembled GT3 engine and the stock engine on the 996.
From what I remember the GT3 has 115 mm between each cylinder. I'm going to check that tonight and compare with the 996.

Because the headers advertised above on ebay are disclaimed to bo for a GT3, so I'm not sure it would fit your 996.

BTW I think I have a pair of brand new GT3 R headers that I will never use. If they fit the 996 bloc I would put them for sale.

My goodness... they sale these for 90 bucks. A pair of stainless steel headers for $90... they can't be good !

Hi,
How do they look like (honestly) ?
I'm wondering how cheap the material and welding can be for this price.
I couldn't find a pair of decent headers for less than $550 in Europe (about 450 euros) so I can't believe these are good at less than $100 !

thanks

jw996, didn't you report that you had one of the gaskets on wrong which was partially blocking the exhaust port? I thought I remembered that. Did you ever reinstall and re-dyno with the gasket flipped around properly?

Just curious...

Yes, I remember that too, especially as I got ebay headers some time after that (different product though). I don't think I lost or gained any HP but the TQ curve changed. I lost some low end TQ which is known for equal length headers. However, combined with my GHL exhaust, they woke up an orchestra! The improvement in sound is great; that's what keeps them on my car. They weight the same as the stock headers and I was not able to find any difference in construction compared to higher priced e.g. Fabspeed headers. IMO they all come out of the same factory in China. After 1 year, I've to say that there's nothing wrong with cheap ebay headers; just don't believe the HP fairy tale but that's true for almost every performance mod on our n/a cars (CAI, mufflers, chip ...).

Porx, I didn't have time to unpack the engine yesterday and some measurement (I took pics of my new toy instead). Will do it today.
