The other day while driving my 2003 996 cab I turned on the radio/CD. The radio face lit but no sound. I turned the radio off with the thought of checking it when I got home. A few minutes later ther was a very loud burst of "static" in all of the speakers. This continued to happen 5 or 6 times in a 20 minute drive, radio off or on, and even once after the ignition was turned off in the garage. I pulled the two audio fused D 8 & 9. The noise stopped. I put the fuses back in and everything worked as normal???? Anybody have any clues as to what is going on? Does the amp have a relay somewhere that was/is sticking?

Sorry for bringing back such an old thread but I am experiencing the same issue minus the static. Recently my radio turns on but I get no sound. I have searched to see if there is a relay to the amp with no success.
Some background. I recently installed a set of xenon lights that had a bad control module. Whenever I turn the lights on it would blow a fuse. Since then I have had not sound. Can anyone shed some light on what they think may be causing this?

Did you try pulling the fuses D 8 & 9 to reset the radio & amp? That is what worked for me when it acted up. It got so that it would happen every time I started the car with the stereo on. I would get no sound and "Porsche" or "No CD" or periodic loud Static Cracks. It has been working fine since I replaced the 5 yr old battery.
