Default Please help me evaluate this offer on my C4S

I test marketed my 2003 on Cragslist for 52K and I just has someone offer 45 although he has not seen it yet.

2003 Carrera 4S Coupe 6 speed 20,000 miles Guards red It is well optioned: 342-heated seats, P74-Bi Xenon Hedlamp package, 446-colored wheel crests, 680-Bose surround sound, 982-Soft ruffled leather seats, 586-Lumbar supports left and right, 425-rear window wiper, P11-self dim mirrors and rain sensor, X71-alum insturment dials, Y06-carbon fiber shifter and brake handle, X70-metal door model insignia, 692-6-disc CD changer, M6A-Porsche black floor mats

should I consider this offer seriously or put on autotrader to see if I could get more. If i were to list it on autotrader I was thinking about starting at 50K

Thanks

IMO it is still worth closer to 50K -as everyone knows it is tough right now and if you have a real buyer that is worth considering.

I think put it up for 52, so I could get 48.

I'm thinking 45k to 48k would be realistic for our low-mile guards red c4s. mine has 25k.

Ayayay, 45K? What? hold on now.
****, I'll go $45,099.95 right now

A very nice red 03 C4S with 20K miles? IF it is in mint shape with solid maint + paper work, well now...

Please, 52K is a good buy for someone in the market looking for low miles/well optioned W/B

50K would already be on the low side
If they can't see the deal in that, I'd move on to the next.

GL to you

You have to realize that 05+ (997) are getting close to the low 50s range.

Not trying to be pessimistic, just being realistic.

Market saturation and yes the 997's are starting to get down into the low 50's. There are tons of people selling cars right now. I hate the values are dropping like this, but what can you do. If you "need" to sell then maybe a solid 45k offer is not so bad. if you simply want to sell you might hold our, or reconsider selling.

I've been shopping and I think $45K is a fair price for a 2003 C4S.
Market is real soft right now. Bad for sellers but great for buyers.
Anything in the 50 range, I would be looking at Turbos. I would say your car would be worth between 42 to 46.

I saw a 2003 red C4S with similar options including nav. It had higher mileage but dealer was offering $42K and he was willing to throw in a warranty.I passed because of the high mileage.

I just walked on two 996 TT deals. One for $46K 2001 which was a bit rough.
And one for $55K, clean 2003 with clean PPI and low miles. The 2003 TT I was looking at had less than 30K miles, perfect body and paint.
There were no swirl marks whatsoever. Leather seats had no wear,etc... Car was cleaner than any new cars I've bought in the past 6 years (I've bought a new car every year for the past decade).

I think it will go down even further as Fall approaches. I expect and hope I can find a '03 996 TT in black with less than 35K miles for $50K around October or November.

As things are going now, I think that the offer you got was fair. If I was in the market for a non-turbo 996, your car is ideal for me. I love the widebody and the options.
However, I would offer $45K based on the cars I've personally seen in the past. $42-$46K is the absolute range I would consider for a C4S.

Here is a 03 C4S with an asking price of $47,500 ( http://www.nohrsauto.com/used-cars.p...780d04704e0e56 ).
Sure, it has higher mileage but it comes from a dealership where most people can try to finance. I also bet buyers can probably negotiate further down.

A few things I notice. Dealers, sellers are sticking to their prices for now. Then when the next wave of auctions transpire, the prices start to drop. When they drop, they start to drop pretty fast.

Case in point, this 2001 TT (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/car/754650068.html) with 30K miles has an asking price of $51988. Too bad it is tiptronic.

I agree, the market right now for high end sports cars is very very soft. Unless of course you're trying to sell a 1984-1989 911 with over 100K miles on it, in which case you'll get close to 20K. Why? I have no idea. Could not get a penny over 21K for my 1999 996 with 62K, champion wheels, and very good condition.

I bought my 2003 C4S back in March with just under 30k miles for 49,900...and I have been watching prices slip and slide down ever since. If you need a quick sale, take the 45k...even if you can wait, I dont think you will be able to get over 50k...

Yeah, people have to realize that these are depreciating assets and they're by no means collector cars -- yet.

The area one lives in does plays into things. The low miles ups the price by a nice chunk as well
If it had 40-50K miles on it I'd say $45,000 would be more realistic

Look at some examples in the Seattle area

42-46K range for your C4S is low to me....I would keep it

Around Houston it would sell for 47500 at least. Stay strong - preserve our values!!!
