Default Just love left lane hogs.

Yup, that's right. Left lane hogs saved my bacon today.

Great drive on a wide open, grass divided, flat-paved 4 lane highway, speed limit 65, no intersection for several miles. Light traffic, everyone doing about 70-75 mph. Me, I'm in the Porsche lane doing "maybe" 85 , windows open, loving the warble of the flat 6 via PSE, everyone obligingly moving off to the right as I approached. Except one. Stayed put on the left as I approached. No biggie. Nice drive so far, open lane on the right, I'll just signal and move over to the right. Just as I start to move over, I notice a single white car in the far-far distance on the opposite lane that had a weird roofline. As I saw it again off the corner of the lane hog car, the weird roof line looked like a tiny rack of lights. I jam on the brakes a fraction of a second before my Passport goes berserk. Instant-on radar! Porsche brakes have me in tandem speed with the lane hog a fraction of a second after that. Passport stays fully pegged at max, loudest alarm, bar all the way to the right, and blinking hurriedly. I stay in synchronized speed with lane hog at 65 until we pass the police car. A few seconds of anxiety as I watch the rear view and side mirrors. Cop car moves on, alarms go quiet. I look over at lane hog, driver is grinning from ear to ear at me. i give him the thumbs up, a wave, and move on.

Lucky dog!

Time to kick back at the BBQ with a beer, as it doesn't get better than that.

Yeah Palting, you are a lucky dog, because my Honda won't eveg approach 70 MPH, much less 85! I know one thing is certain.... I'll never get a speeding ticket in my POS!

I think you need a way back machine (remember rocky and bullwinkle?). 0-60 in 9.3 sec was respectable in, say, 1980.

You are correct, I need a "way back machine." How far back in time do I have to go to make 0-60 in 18 seconds respectable?

Yeah, isn't it a hoot? Programmatore created it and posted it in a thread a couple of weeks ago. He did a great job on it. I laughed so hard, I had tears in my eyes. I decided to "adopt" it for my own.

Haha, "the porsche lane"... I love that.

Left lane hogs in Houston are the ones that hide themselves in the middle lane, then right as you approach a merge ramp that the C4S can take around 70, they leap from their lowly perch and block you. Sometime they even come directly from the far right lane. Insanity. For these reasons I pretty much drive speed limit +5mph - eyes on continuous swivel.

Quick Reply: Just love left lane hogs.
