Default Dead spot on the power band at launch

My car seems to have an inconsistent dead spot off the line. Most of the time it is normal with good clutch work. Every once in a while it will require quite a bit more gas then normal not to stutter. I have other manual cars and never had any with this issue. I have also done the clutch mod (removal of spring) so I have a stiff but much more communicative clutch then before and I still have this inconsistency.

I couldn't really find anything on this doing a search other then one post in a chip thread when someone mentioned that their GIAC chip helped with the dead spot at the launch and made the care more pleasurable to drive. I wasn't looking to turn this into another chip thread and don't really have a desire to drop $1k on a chip right now so I am hoping that their might be a better solution. If the chip is the solution I will get it but I have got to believe there is a better solution.

Thank you all in advance!!

GIAC wont help nor will cleaning the plenum. Unfortunately, slipping the clutch is the only way to avoid the bog down also disengage the PSM.

I've noticed this same problem. A new chip will not resolve it, as won't a new plenum, nor cleaning the throttle body. It's just a hassle that one learns to deal with. Alas, it drives me mad sometimes. If you're not cognizant, you could conceivably stall once in a while (ahem, it's happened to me. Hi, my name is Edward and I'm a modder/staller).

I would say the power dip is at around 1500 rpm. Sometimes ever closer to 2000. Only when there is an incline. Sometimes it is there and sometimes it is not. It is not a clutch issue since I took out the clutch assister sping canaster.

Slight incline... smooth on the power... smooth off the clutch... car just doesn't want to go. Leaves me wishing for a 993.

I am going to clean the throttle body this weekend just incase. With 50k on the car it couldn't hurt.

If you haven't clean your TB in 50k miles, it will help, but it will not go away completely. Look at the engine torque curve...the dip is right there...my 02 does it sometimes as well. BTW...my 3 BMW's over the last 8 years ALSO did it.
