Default 11 Inch Rears

Is anyone running 11 inch rears on narrow body? I'm looking at these wheels
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-PO...2308QQtcZphoto

Has anyone had experience with this seller? He recommends 285 35 tires on 11 inch rears with 63mm offset. I currently have 275 35 on 10s with 65mm offset and it seems pretty tight. I would like to complete the GT3 look though. I've added the front bumper, side skirts, and bought the Taco wing, though I haven't had it put on yet.

I have 11" ET 63 wheels (Sport Techno) using 295/30 with RoW M030 and haven't encountered any clearance issues.

I have 11" rears on my NB 996 with almost the same offset. I run 295/30-18 w/no clearance issues.

Are those real GT3 wheels or knockoffs?

Ray...come on, for that price? The seller calls them GT3 "style" wheels.

shirk....the 11" will be NO problem as long as your offset isn't too aggressive. Stick with the rec'd 63. As you start dropping to 60 and below you run into issues of the wheel sticking out past the fender.

Ask them who manufactures them or what brand they are.

Definitely knockoffs, made in Italy but meet TUV and other standards. Tis is either my 4th or 5th set of tires and I've bought new wheels every time but once. Since this is my daily driver, never tracked, and really not driven that hard, I haven't worried too much about the wheels. In fact, the set on my car now are Voxx, not a particularly good brand but look great. I have 275 35s now. The seller of these wheels recommends 285 35s with 11 inch rears, but I've also heard 285 30 and 295 30. Any thoughts as to what would be the best fit, as far as filling up the wheel well? Wet traction is my primary concern, since I drive the car most days, rain or shine. I have the taco wing, just havent had it installed yet, and want to finish the GT3 look. As many miles as I have, my car had depreciated to near nothing, so from here on out, I can just please myself. I can't see ever selling it. A 3.2 with the same mileage is worth more. I can't figure that one out, but don't really mind living with it.

If buying reps, definitely speak with Wheel Dynamics (ask for Carlos or Roland) http://wheeldynamics.net , they are very knowledgeable on fitment

remember that allowable offsets for 99-01 cars are different in the rear, which is why I won't quote you what my rears are (19x11, took 315/25 rubber)

What? There is NO difference between the rears of a 99-01 and 02-04. They are all the same. Now there IS a difference between the NARROW and WIDE body models. FYI.....there is NO reason to run a 315 rear tire on a 11" wheel for a street car. If you like the wider rubber and increased weight then cool, but not optimal like the 305 (or even the 295) would be.

I'm sure you're right, for some reason I remembered being told when researching my fitment here or RT that there was some difference when fitting 19s on mk1/mk2. Thanks for the info!

In any event I deferred to the company selling the wheels and mine did wind up fitting well without spacers. The proprietors stand behind their product as well.

If I was running 18x11s, I would have gone with the readily available always in stock options at 295 or 305. The reason I went with the 315s is because at the time it was the only reasonably priced option in stock for a decent rolling diameter at 19X11. There is now a narrower tire available from Vredestein that a lot of people seem to like. Does look nice, and car averages about 3mph where I live so that rear weight isn't killing me, but I would never track.

It's all about RD and offset when fitting ANY size wheel and tire to these cars.

As far as your tire size, you're right, with max speed of 3mph it really doesn't matter what size boat anchor you are draggin' back there!

Default GT3 Wheels

These offsets sound different. I purchased a set of GT3 Wheels from a PCA member in New York two years ago. I also have two sets of CCW track wheels built with the exact same offset. Here is what I read from what is stamped outside and inside my wheels:

Front 8.5X18 ET40 245/40/18 Hoosiers or 235/40/18 MPSC
Rear 11X18 ET63 295/30/18 Hoosier and MPSC

The 996 narrow body is the same as the 996 GT3. I am not an offset expert but I do know these GT3 wheels and CCWs fit perfectly. The Ebay site says 50mm offset front and 45mm offset rear. How that matches up with ET40 and ET63 I have no idea. Buy offical Porsche wheels if you want no problems!

Alex, it's like adding an 18mm spacer in the rear to your GENUINE GT3 wheels. Ouch!
