Agree with Dell, it's all about the offset

here's the offset stamped on OE 11 wide rims - shown on an 03 996 C2 - 67 in my case

And on these 19" x 11" rims I run 315 25 19 tires with no issues

Rear 11X18 ET63 295/30/18 Hoosier and MPSC

The 996 narrow body is the same as the 996 GT3. I am not an offset expert but I do know these GT3 wheels and CCWs fit perfectly. The Ebay site says 50mm offset front and 45mm offset rear. How that matches up with ET40 and ET63 I have no idea. Buy offical Porsche wheels if you want no problems!
You need to read the e-bay ad a little more closely.

It says

Also available in 18X11" et 63 for narrow body cars.

Don't feel bad, I missed it on my first read too.

If you buy these wheels, make sure to weigh them before you mount tires. I am interested in how close they get the weights on these reproductions.

If you like the wider rubber and increased weight then cool, but not optimal like the 305 (or even the 295) would be.
I have been told by Carlos @ wheel dynamics that there is a difference. When I bought my wheels, he said that you can get away with slightly wider wheels/tires on the newer cars I think it was due to the suspension. The wheels I bought (19"/11.5") would rub on my 2000 w/out a 5mm spacer...but he has tried them on the newer models and no rubby.

Mark, well then "Carlos" is telling you what you want to hear to sell a wheel and doesn't know the 996 line very well then. Let "Carlos" know that PAG/PCNA never fitted a 11.5" wheel to the narrow body car. The only cars that got anything close to that is an 11" wheel and were the wide body cars and the GT3/Narrow Body cars with the accommodating offset.

FYI....the rubbing that was avoided with a 5mm spacer could have been avoided with the proper offset. There is no reason to need a spacer with "custom" wheels.

By the way Mark, are the wheels in your sig (which look great in black by the way!) ones from "Carlos"? If so, what are the specs on them (wheel and tire as well)?

They are the one's I bought from Carlos @ wheeldynamics.com.

They are 997 Carerra Sport wheels (knockoffs ...painted black of course). They are 19X8.5 et56mm 23.5lbs w/235/35/19 and 19X11.5 w/ et67mm 28.5lbs 315/25/19. I do have a 5mm spacer on the rear. Again, he says he has fitted many 996's and no spacer required on the 2001-2004 model. Mine are about as tight of a fit as you could get but I have had them on for several months without rubbing.

Personally, they look to me like they stick out too far in the rear. When a GT3 wheel (11" et63) is about as tight as you want to go in the rear of a narrow body 996, to add .5" of wheel AND a 5mm spacer it's the equivalent (roughly) of adding a 7-8mm spacer to the rear of a factory GT3 wheel. Not going fit properly. You needed to run the 5mm spacer probably to clear on the INSIDE. Very simply, a 11.5" wheel is NOT correct.

Regardless, if it is what you like that is ALL that matters. They look great in black by the way

I have a 315/25/19 in the rear so I don't think you will have too much problem running the wheel with a normal size tire such as the 285 or 295. I do think you have to be more careful if you start getting into the 315/30/18 as the height of the tire may become an issue.

I have 11.5" Champions on the rear with 315/25/zr19 tires. No spacers. Everything fits perfectly. No rub, no sticking out, just sticky on the road. 1999 MY.

I finally got the wheels today. my decision now is size of rear tires. 285 30 appears to be standard, but will 285 35s also work? I think they may fill up the wheel well in the rear better than the 285 30s, but I don't want to have a rubbing issue. BTW, the wheels look great. I knew they werent factory wheels, but im not racing the car and my driving habits shouldnt present a problem. They are heavier, I haven't weighed them yet, but weight on boxes with packing was listed at 73lb, one front, one rear, 3 boxess, packing, etc. I will weight them tho before putting them on.

35's will work. Just understand what comes with a larger RD. You will just have a higher sidewall (more roll) and your gearing will be increased (longer gears).

I did pick up on the correct offset. i got the 63MM offset for my C2. My question is whether 285 30s or 285 35s would be best suited for the 11 inch rims. I have 275 35s on my car now with 10 inch rims and they look a lot better than the 265 35 stock size, and IMHO better than 285 30s. They just fill out the wheel well better. What I don't know is if the 285 35s will present any problem I don't know about, given the wheels are 11 inches wide with a 63 offset. The tire calculator I used shows the dimensions within the 3% range of recommended maximum difference from stock, but just barely. That calculator does not factor offsets or wheel widths, though, just overall tire dimensions and their effect on braking and speedometer accuracy.
