Seems to be a bit of a recurring theme this, I've read a few things saying I just bought this 996 and.....
I think what happens is someone has had the car for a while, notices a problem and reads up on it then decides, let's get rid, probably trades it at a dealer.
The car is then sold as a px by that dealer or moved through the system to another dealer.
The problem is so slight at first it doesn't get picked up, the car is running fine etc
Then someone buys the car and after a couple of weeks might notice somethings not right!
The dealer probably wasn't aware but it's their fault for not checking the car properly so I would take it back and get a refund if poss.
There's going to be money and time needed to sort it out, you'll be out of pocket probably having to deal and contribute to repairs and wait with no car while it's in the shop, then you need to hope they send it to a good shop because a lot of places are clueless with these cars going round in circles not knowing these engines .
If you can get out of it , if not don't pay anything towards if you can help it and insist it goes to a place who know Watercooled 996 engines , even good air cooled garages can struggle

Yes, but the latest occurrence is from yesterday. And yes, the poster should have started a new thread, but he is new to ownership and to the forum so cut him some slack.

Thanks for the responses, Got ahold of the dealer and I'm taking it in to them to confirm the head and then move forward with hopefully a fix. Still love the car. Should I post this sort of thing to a new thread in the 996 area?

It was about 10 years ago and 50,000 miles ago that I had my intermix. Fixed it myself and it is still running strong (although it does need a new clutch master cylinder). So these engines can be fixed
