I was on a bus once, in adulthood. 30 years ago.

Frankly, flying commercial in coach is like being on a bus these days. If it's 4 hours or less, I drive.

Not to sound derrogatory but... I believe it's even sillier to have a 911 and worry about the cost of gas while driving it.

I hear ya, but I'd rather spend the money on mods instead of supporting the Middle East states (not to sound derogatory)!

Middle East States!!

But really, mods don't count if the car can't be driven.

I'm at the 5 going on 6 hours range these days. Flying commercial can be a miserable experience.

I got a ride back to Toronto on a friend's Falcon 10 yesterday... that will restore your enthusiasm for flying!

The Middle East is not the only place America gets its oil. Would it make you feel better to think of the gas in your car as being from Venezuela or Alberta, Canada?

Let's just say the Middle East is not as friendly as Canada! And, screw Venezuela! I have spoken!

I have always been from the school of keeping the revs down low as possible without getting input shaft chatter, that is your true lugging point IMO.

To say that keeping the revs high for any engine is ridiculous in my eyes (as long as it is not lugging).

I think that if Porsche wanted us to rev the engine everywhere you drove, they would of programmed the Tiptronic to do so, it doesn't.

It goes straight to OD by 35 MPH. That is roughly 1500 + or - RPM by what I remember.

Lugging is really, IMO, bad for air-cooled engines, due to not receiving enough jug airflow. Water-cooled, I would not be concerned about.
