New Wheels & tires! (w pics)
After much indecision, I finally decided on wheels & tires for my '99 C2. Thanks to the list for all the info and help. Got offsets, weights, tire advice etc, was a huge help! I got: Porsche 18" BBS Sport Design (7.5" front 10" rear), and I painted the faces black. Tires are Mich Sport Rib, N-spec. VERY happy with both!! Wheels are painted gloss, though it doesn't look like it in the pics. Have been on several hard drives and they have a good coat of dust. This is probably more true of how they will usually look!

The silver rim/lip makes all the difference. I have seen alot of silver cars with all black wheels and they do nothing for me, just look dull. These look great!!!

Still thinking on the amber lenses. They haven't bothered me yet, but with the new wheels might change them.
I agree about the lip. I thought black wheels didn't really work on silver cars, but with the lip , rivets and Y-spokes, it works for me.
Thanks!

You car and the new wheels and tires look great. Of course I am biased since mine is the same layout as yours. Here a few pics of my car with the my new Mich. PS2 tires. Great job.......

Right you are on the Sport Classics, I was also looking at the Sport Design wheels.
Taylorsnutrition- thanks and your ride is very sweet! Love the side profile, has a nice rake effect. The clear lenses look really good w/ the silver & black. Damn- this things gonna get faster and faster from all the weight lost from my wallet! Are those 18's? I wanted to get the newer technology PS2, but could not find my size with the "N" spec. The "ribs" seem great to me, but I just came from 17" with Goodyear F1 all-season (pretty good for all season though).
Got about 100+ miles on the Sport Ribs, so they should be getting close to broke in. Now I need a fire extinguisher, bracket, helmet & some track (gotta do the 1999porsche911 fan switch mod first though- that's too cool!)!

I got a set of those wheels coming soon; my car is silver also. So to paint them...did you take the wheels apart; if so how was that? Did you paint the fasteners; it does not look like it?
Looks really nice, I'm intrigued by it. I never thought to leave the outer lip silver.

From what I read up on the multi-piece wheels, it's not a good idea to disassemble them (as least not by someone that does not specialize in wheel rebuilding - me). I did the "ghetto" paint job on these. I went to autozone and bought Duplicolor adhesion promoter, flat black and clear wheel spray paint. Masked off the outer lip. Used the blue low tack tape. My 10 year old daughter happened to have little round valentine stickers that covered the fasteners pretty well. I removed any excess with a razor blade. Used a paint prep degreaser to clean and sanded with 400-800 grit, quite a lot of prep with the Y-spokes! I painted the center caps also- silver were cheaper than black, and the paint is an exact match. Paint turned out quite well, it should be durable, I prepped the hell out of them. There is a very small amount of orange peel, I'm going to let the paint cure for 6-8 weeks and wetsand the faces to get the "mirror" finish. A lot of work, but it was satisfying.
