Default alternate 17" tire sizes

I'm currently running 205/50/17 and 255/40/17 tires..

I'd like to know if I can get away with running 215/45/17 in the front....

checking on tirerack.com the stock size tire diameter is 25.1" (treadwidth of 7.5")

the 215/45/17 diameter is 24.6" and (treadwidth of 8")
the 225/45/17 diameter is 25" (treadwidth of 8.3")

I'd like to keep the rears @ 255/40/17 (stock)..

is there any problems with these increased front tire sizes... hoping this will decrease understeer a bit... but the main reason I want to change the tire size is I want the Bridgestone RE01-R which don't come in the standard front size...

??

Assuming the wheels are wide enough (7" will probably do but check Bridgestone's specs for minimum wheel width), I'd go with 225/45-17:

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
205/50-17 4.04in 12.54in 25.07in 78.76in 804.4 0.00%
215/45-17 3.81in 12.31in 24.62in 77.34in 819.2 -1.81%
225/45-17 3.99in 12.49in 24.97in 78.45in 807.6 -0.39%

thx!

I'm thinking of running the Bridgestone RE01-R's... from what I've read they stick like crazy without a punishing ride...
