Default Alignment Issue?

I just acquired a 2001 996 C2 with 39k miles. The only thing wrong with this car was that the Pirelli pzero Rossos were trashed and the alignment was off. Being a somewhat conservative driver, I replaced the tires with Goodyear F1 All Seasons and had an alignment done to factory specs at Euro Wheel Alignment in Houston. No big complaints but the car does not track the road at highway speed as well as I might have expected. Its hard to describe but it feels like its aligned smack in the middle of a bit of play in the steering so it will tend to hop one way or another on the uneven concrete crap freeways in Houston. Conversely, my Audi A6 inspires a lot more confidence as it tracks straight down the road in its own special road hugging way.

Is this just the nature of the 996 handling or should I expect more?
Should the alignment be tweaked to something other than factory specs?
Could it be the tires (they sure look nice and what a bargain)?

Maybe something is not right.
I had to have a 2nd alignment at Porsche after an indy completely screwed it up.
The 996 steering is super solid up to 285 Km, but I suspect it would be the same up to 400 Km.

When I had 205s on front, straight as a bullet. After I went to 235s, it started to midly tramline.

Have the toe checked again. My 928 tramlines like crazy when the toe is not right. The 928 is more likely to be toed out than in. I bought a 996 and am having it aligned tomorrow--the one I bought has front tires that are feathered on the inside which also suggests a toe out condition. It's a little jumpy on the highway but not bad.

Well, part of it is Houston. I don't know what it is, but our concrete freeways are just horrible. Rough, uneven, big joints, and weird texture.

The light and high front end don't help. Mine calmed down a bit with the reduced ride height.
