Ive never had a porsche use oil but my current car has gone through a quart in 2 DE events? Is this with in normal expectations? Car has 13k miles on it and is an x51 motor. Thanks

not uncommon. I wouldn't think that you are "burning" synthetic oil. More than likely blowing out the tailpipe. Just keep it topped off and you will be ok.

90k miles on my engine and I don't lose any oil between changes at 10k intervals.

Uber, do you track your car?

Mine does. No track time, although I do drive a little aggressively . . . Never a drop on the garage floor.

I have searched most sites, and the range varies a huge amount, from none (as in uber's reply) to a qt per 1000 miles. Some claim break-in problems, while others followed the break-in procedure and still burn some oil.

Yes, although its difficult to define in terms of quart/mileage, since a lot of my mileage consists of track driving. A quart every two DE weekends is probably about right for me. There have been other threads like this previously and if I recall, a majority of the posters posted their cars burned no oil.

First track day was during this last change. I didn't notice any difference in oil level after the track day.

I put in about a quart every 5K miles (oil changes) and this makes the electronic gauge sit right up above the top line (reman engine).

Don't know how aggressive driving you were doing at those DE events, but 2 days running 'er near redline is probably equivalent to a month of typical street driving.

Looking at your signature, kind of surprised you've never seen a P-car consume a little oil?

No issues here, the oil level is constantly the same

I go through a quart every thousand miles or so, less if there are track days involved. 68K now, 29K when I got it in 05. Been the same consumption since I bought it. No other issues, knock on wood.

i see no correlation between engine that burns oil to better overall health/performance, engine that does not burn oil to better health/performance

it's more of an annoyance to check and refill, but then it's good practice in a sense, too.
