Default Tire Warranties?

Do you get them? Are they worth it at $50.00 per tire? Who covers tires AND RIMS?

Last time I had warranty claims; they patched the tire (nail in heart of tread) and had lots of trouble balancing the tire and my rim they sanded curb rash and painted all while the tire was mounted. (overspraying brake dust and tire, then buffing the red "Zero" logo almost off my tire)

I bought one when I bought my first set of tires. I have not bought one since.

I find that in all the 20 years that I've been driving I have gotten a puncture from a nail once. It cost me $25 to have the puncture repaired.

$25 for one repair when warranties on the on all the tires I've bought would have cost a lot more and been wasted.

If you're in a habit of driving through beds of nails, then they might be worthwhile, otherwise I'd keep the money in my pocket.

I never buy the warranties either but I do pick up lots of nails on all of my cars. I have only had one nail in my Porsches over the last three years and it was right when I needed to replace it anyway, but I seem to average one nail a quarter on the other cars. Most of the time you can plug the tire without any difficulty.

I wouldn't take the repair of a 35- or 40-series speed-rated tire on a 911 very lightly.

I sell them to about maybe 15-20% of my total sales. The company we use (sonsio) is nationwide and works great. Whether or not to get it is a tough call, but uncle Murphy is always around the corner.....

By the way, $50 for four tires maybe, but not individually.....
