Question Is there some trick to getting the passenger side mirror to tilt in reverse?

I know as of last week it worked. Put the car in reverse and the right side mirror tilts down so you can see the curb in a rear or parallel park. Now it doesn't do it. I DID have all the codes reset at an Indy for a CEL...could he have deleted or switched off that function by accident?...Any advice greatly appreciated....Nevermind..I found the answer on another forum. You have to have the car in reverse when you press M then the memory poistion you are using "key", 1, or 2. If I fine adjust my seat when driving, then I'm killing the mirror tilt each time, which is of course what I did.

Check that your mirror adjustment switch is set to the driver's side mirror. I believe it won't "look" down when the switch is set to passenger side.

If that's not it, since looking down is a dealer set function, I would bet it got reset. You will need to have it turned back on.

Default Check your manual.

If it is like mine this function linked with the seat position memory. If I remember correctly, you must have the car in reverse and then reset your seat position memory.

I think it's the opposite.

In my boxster, the mirror adjustment switch has be on the passenger side AND the car in reverse gear. You can also set it as part of the seat memory, and in that case, everytime u go to reverse, it does it automatically.

It looks like maybe you have this solved, but just in case... check to see if you have reverse lights. There is a switch that controls these which is prone to failure. If it does fail, you lose the mirror tilting function also. It's a cheap fix. FWIW.

Bingo! This happened to mine just last month...I had never even realized it and didn't even know this feature existed until today. Thanks, guys!

Yeah, reverse switch that's in the tranny is bad. Do it yourself $12.25 at pelican and 15 minutes of your time. Or spend $100 for the dealer to do it.

Omar,
I think only those of us with the memory seats get the tilt feature...but I could be wrong.

Reminds me of the guy who didn't realize until after 2 years that there was a pocket on the door .

But, yes, this feature is available only on cars with seat memory. And, to engage this feature, the gear must be engaged in reverse (Tip or manual) when the seat position is stored in memory. it will work only with that memory number.

Maybe you can beat the 2 year record. How long have you had your car, Noby? .

Yes, just set your seat the way you want it, put the car in reverse, then store the position in memory.

So I fallow this steps?

1. Putting the seat into the right position
2. Putting in Reserve gear
3. Getting the seat position into the memory (pushing the button ex nr1 for a few seconds?)

Do I also need to adjust the mirror how I would like it to be when its in reverse or does it know this by it self?

Havent had it long, almost a year, so only driven it one summer =)
