i remember when i first picked up the car in burlingame, CA (Bay Area) headed to downtown SF as I was gonna crash at a buddy's place (where barry bond's leases a unit, i know cuz i pissed him off in the parking garage) for a long weekend before driving it up to seattle.... i rev matched it down to 3rd driving at around 60mph and just mashed it and shifted into 4th at redline.... the noise pierced my ears; heavenly noise.
at that moment, i was like by ebye M3, HELLO 911! so i got some mad love for the EVOMS/PSE combo

To the OP's question, I should add that mine has been zero trouble in terms of MAFS, water ingress, all the stuff people worry about. And I drive the car year round, and use a commercial DIY car wash on it (though not an automatic). It seems to be a very well engineered piece that I can just forget about other than at service time.

Gets attention from cars around you, too.

as far as looks go...the evo looks more sporty than stock due to the exposed filter and set-up. if looks do not matter, but still want to spend money because you want to say you have a "cold air intake", i'd go for the fabspeed unit. their kit eliminates the muffler box inside the filter housing which supposedly reduces turbulence and increases flow. do not know if the fabspped unit does anything to the exhaust sound.

And again I ask.. whats the difference between these two other than aesthetics? They are both a tube and a plug? correct?

What about the K&N cai? I believe retail is under $300. I paid $150 on eBay. Installed in an hour, K&N even sent me some replacement hardware for free. Exactly the same experience, pure heaven in 3rd@WOT! Especially in a tunnel
It even has a "sock", for lack of a better word, that covers the filter element allowing you to run the filter with less oil and hopefully fewer MAF alarms(I have yet to have a CEL in almost 2 years of use. I actually had the light checked).
Having said that, I have some concern about allowing particulate matter and water into the intake. Since mine is still CPO I also remove it before going in for service.
